The ‘Emsland Brüterei’ hatchery was built in 2003. Since then, we have steadily increased the hatchery’s output capacity through expansions. Firmly contracted hatching egg suppliers and the latest hatching technology lay the foundation for healthy day-old chicks and corresponding fattening results.

Quality assurance

Twice a week, the eggs are collected from the parent stock farms by our own trucks and delivered to the hatchery. Process, transport and storage conditions of eggs determine a healthy chick. Optimised development conditions are achieved through automated control and monitoring technology. Temperature, humidity and air exchange rate are the key factors. Hygiene is the be-all and end-all of the hatching process. Strictest hygiene guidelines for our employees, daily cleaning and disinfection of the production facilities and transport boxes are obligatory.

1. Automated incoming goods inspection

Upon arrival at the hatchery, the eggshell is disinfected to prevent the risk of infection from contamination. Subsequently, each delivery is checked automatically and eggs that are not suitable for hatching are sorted out.

2. Pre-hatch incubators

Optimised developing conditions are achieved through automated control and monitoring technology: Temperature, humidity and air exchange rate are the key factors.

3. Hygiene lock for employees

Strictest hygiene guidelines for employees, spatial separation of different work areas, daily cleaning and disinfection of the production facilities are obligatory.

4. Vigorous quality control

The effectiveness of our hygiene measures is supported and monitored through frequent microbiological testing. Employees, processes, eggs and chicks are constantly put to the test. This includes imprint samples on the hands of the employees and plant parts as well as the examination of dust, waste and chick faeces samples.
